Grandfathered

John Stamos and Josh Peck. Need I say more? After watching the trailer and seeing the pretty high ratings (7.1/10 on IMDb and 68% on Rotten Tomatoes) I was beyond excited to watch this show, and it definitely did not disappoint.

The show starts off introducing Jimmy (played by John Stamos), a successful restaurateur, flirting with the customers on the floor of his bustling restaurant. But following the cliche story line, his life changes when he meets his son Gerald (played by Josh Peck) for the first time. He gets an even bigger surprise when Gerald wheels out his child, adorable baby Edie. Following a confrontation with Gerald's mom Sara (played by Paget Brewster), where Jimmy is told, If you hurt my son, or his daughter, I will choke you to death with your own two overly moisturized hands," he tries to take on the role of being a dad and grandfather, counseling Gerald on his love life, and eventually babysitting baby Edie.

I absolutely fell in love with this episode and couldn't help but sit with a smile on my face for the entire episode. The show was full of quick and witty one liners, and a few surprisingly heartwarming moments which led to a couple aw" and laugh out loud moments. The first episode managed to introduce the characters very well, and mesh a realistic and relatable plot line with just the right amount of comedic relief.

The actors were also chosen very well. John Stamos, who just doesn't seem to age, plays basically the same role of a bachelor changing his ways, like he did on Full House. A lot of the jokes in this episode were centered around his looks and vanity, which was also a characteristic of his role on Full House. Not going to lie, this episode definitely makes me want to have a Full House marathon this weekend (you're all invited). Speaking of similarities to Full House, baby Edie is played by a set of twin baby girls, just like the Olsen twins who both played Michelle Tanner! But getting back to the casting, Josh Peck plays a similar character to his role on Drake and Josh, which was also giving me a severe case of nostalgia. His character Gerald is dorky, goofy, and not so great with the ladies, Can someone say Josh?

All in all, this episode left me wanting more, and I will definitely be watching some more episodes in the near future. If you're looking for an all around feel-good" type show, Grandfathered is the one for you.
